The Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement (PRRM) and Feed the Hungry (FtH) partnered in late August 2023 to provide safe water supply systems in three communities in the upland province of Nueva Vizcaya in northern Philippines. This partnership also included the local governments of the two municipalities of Ambaguio and Kayapa.
In late 2023, PRRM initiated social preparation work that included courtesy calls with local government officials and community consultations. As part of validation, technical work was performed by PRRM in the form of ocular site visits, validation of proposed structural designs with the municipal engineering offices, and scoping of local suppliers and service providers.
Construction work was commenced and continued in the two barangays of Ammoweg and Camandag in Ambaguio town. While the familiarity of the local governments and communities with the work of PRRM helped facilitate project implementation, the pace by which construction work proceeded was affected by external conditions such as the drying up of water and the difficulty experienced by the service providers (i.e., drillers) in transporting their equipment through the terrain of the project sites.
As construction work progressed into late 2024 and early 2025, the national elections also caused a temporary and short-term suspension of construction activities. Project work continued such that as of October 2025, the two water system units in Ambaguio were completed, while social preparation work in Kayapa advanced.

- 1. Bgy. Camandag, Ambaguio
- The electric water pump system, as previously reported, has been completed, and the community has been enjoying an ample water supply for household and farm use. The connection to the local electric cooperative was facilitated by the barangay council, which also pays the monthly utility bills.

2. Bgy. Ammoeg, Ambaguio
The status of the water project in Bgy. Ammoeg is similar to that in Bgy. Camandag. However, the connection of the water system to the local electric cooperative has not yet been completed; the current connection is to a nearby household. As a temporary measure, the project fund currently contributes to the payment of the electric bill at an average of Php1,000 per month. The barangay council will continue the future monthly payments once the connection to the electric cooperative is completed. For each of the water systems in these two barangays in Ambaguio, a certificate of completion will be accomplished and signed by the Municipal Engineer, the concerned Barangay Chairperson, and PRRM Project Officer, Mr Ronnel Acio.

3. Bgy. Balete, Kayapa
The design of the third unit in Bgy. Balete, Kayapa, underwent an assessment together with barangay and municipal government partners. With the same project fund level, it was recommended that this third unit be a spring development system, instead of a deep well system. Mr Acio worked with the council to finalize the design of the recommended spring development system, including the Program of Work and Detailed Estimate Sheet. The barangay council passed Barangay Resolution #29, series of 2024, to this effect.
On 16 October 2025, on the endorsement of PRRM, FtH approved the barangay’s request.

PRRM prepared a video report on the status of the Tubig sa Baryo project as of October 2025.
Project management is through the supervision of PRRM’s Project Development Officer, Carla Santos, and the direct community engagement, facilitation of purchases and construction work by the Project Officer, Ronnel Acio, with financial management support by PRRM’s Administrative and Finance Unit. PRRM has sustained support for project implementation (even while funding for project management is only for a limited time) and commits to continuing this towards project completion.
